The Lakeside Park Improvement Project Phase 1A started back in January when Myers Concrete Construction was commissioned to upgrade a couple of the local parks in Marble Falls after the devastating floods of October 2018 – first being Lakeside Park. Lauren Concrete was hired to supply the concrete for the job which included the new parking lots, walkways and steps, and a beach area for recreational use.

“We have little wading pools with access for the adults into the lake,” said Tim Green with Myers Concrete Construction, and Superintendent Site Project Manager for the Lakeside Park Project. “We created a beach area with seating and walkways, and for future holiday lighting ceremonies we have installed access for lighting.”

Now in September the project is being wrapped up with the irrigation system being installed, and fresh foliage planted throughout. Tim Green takes us around the job site to show us the finished concrete work, and points out where the waterline was when the river flooded last year – just 8-inches below the foundation of the Pavilion up on the hill.

“It’s been a long project, a great project, and I cannot wait to turn this over to the community,” Tim said. “I look forward to the day seeing the little kiddos playing on the beach and swimming in the water, cars parked in the parking lot and people having conventions at the pavilion.”

Tim Green expressed his overwhelming satisfaction with Lauren Concrete throughout the duration of the project, and left an unexpected voicemail for Ryan Bartholomew, CEO of Lauren Concrete.

“I have never made a phone call like this in my life,” Tim said. “I have been pouring concrete all around the countryside for forty years, and the service they [Lauren Concrete] provided me throughout this project has been unparalleled.”

Tim Green has poured concrete across the country from Seattle to Florida.

“I have never felt so appreciated and never got such good service or such a good product all combined on any project in the forty years that I have been pouring concrete,” he said.

Tim specifically mentioned the Lauren Concrete Sales and Dispatch team at the Spicewood location, and how they went above and beyond the call of duty when he needed concrete.

“I can remember while the lake was lowered and we were doing the beach work along the headwalls there, and the water was going to be coming up in the near future,” Tim said. “I had no concrete on the books and I had a muddy situation which was really not conducive for concrete trucks to be down in that area pouring concrete, but Howard came out from the plant and took the bull by the horns. He got my trucks in and out, got me serviced, cleaned up the project, went forward without delay…If it hadn’t come through and the lake came up, it would’ve been a catastrophe.”

Tim said that the service he received from Lauren Concrete is rare to find in this industry.

“There has been times when I wasn’t even on the books scheduled for concrete and they provided me with great service and product even in a time of need,” he said. “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that and how rare it is to find that kind of accommodation in this industry, especially with things being so busy.”

Lauren Concrete West Dispatch Manager, Cameron Crawford, said that it was important for everyone on his team to put their best foot forward from start to finish.

“We are very proud of jobs like this,” Cameron said. “Thousands of people cross the bridge in Marble Falls and they get to see Lauren Concrete working on it every day, day-in and day-out. It took everyone – from our dispatchers, our drivers, schedulers as well as Mason, Burnet, Llano, Spicewood all jumped in and did a part of that project over a six-month period.”

The Lakeside Park Improvement Project hit home for the employees of Lauren Concrete, as many of them live in the area and will use this park once it is finished.

“There’s going to be a lot of families from all over that actually use what they build,” Cameron said. “We love it and we love the opportunity.”

Lauren Concrete has had other opportunities to make a positive impact in the community of Marble Falls, one of them being pouring the concrete for the new HEB.

“It’s the hub for the entire highland lakes and people from fifty miles around come to this one HEB, and it took us months–almost a year–to complete,” Cameron said. “We shop in that HEB. I look at the floors and walk on them and everything, and it was really rewarding to see that. A lot of pride in that.”

Lauren Concrete takes the same pride in the Lakeside Park Improvement Project. The second phase of the project will connect Lakeside Park to Johnson Park, and include improvements to Johnson Park.

“I look forward to doing another project with Lauren Concrete in the future,” Tim Green said. “A big pat on the back to Lauren Concrete for making our dream and community’s dreams come true.”
