One Night. Three Demanding Jobs. All Pouring at the Same Time.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, July 15, while the rest of Austin was still asleep, Lauren Concrete trucks pulled up to three job sites Downtown. These construction sites nestled between looming skyscrapers began to stir, with mixer drums spinning and pumps whirring into action to place concrete. Not only did Lauren Concrete pour 1,800 cubic yards of concrete on three different jobs – all happening at the same time – they were also within blocks of each other.
“These were all high-rate pours on demanding commercial jobs that required our A game,” said Matt Jetmore, Central General Manager at Lauren Concrete.

Block 185
On top of the sheer volume, one job required high dosages of liquid nitrogen to meet a low temperature specification. Lauren Concrete rose to the challenge, sending 1,060 cubic yards of chilled concrete out of both North and South Austin plants using Nitrocrete.
This triangle of jobs included Block 185 with DPR Construction (550 yd3), Hanover Republic Square with TAS Commercial Construction (220 yd3), and Hanover Brazos with Baker Concrete (1060 yd3 chilled concrete). Both Block 185 and Hanover Republic Square have since been “topped out” and concrete work finished.

Lauren Concrete Austin-area plants two, three and six provided most of the concrete, but without the support of drivers from other plants, it wouldn’t have been possible. Teamwork is one of our Core Values at Lauren Concrete and in situations like this, the impact teamwork has on our success in providing World Class Customer service is evident.
“To do three jobs at the same time is amazing,” Matt said. “I’m really proud of our crew.”
Thank you to our customers and everyone on the Lauren Concrete team for making this a successful and safe endeavor.
